From the weird, strange, and bizarre files (The W Files) locked safely away in our vault in a secured secret facility rumored to be somewhere in the Nevada badlands, I found a file full of strange wedding facts while looking for a half eaten snickers bar I laid down and forgotten. Not only did I manage to sneak the file home for this article, the candy bar was still good, believe it…or not. While traditionalists may think that they have to give the proper gift for each anniversary, in this day and age, one year anniversary gifts do not have to be paper anymore. There are many great gifts for that special couple that can be paper, but they do not have to be limited to it. Take the time to find the perfect gift for the loving couple, even if it is not considered traditional.

Modernists have started a trend of purchasing clocks as a one year anniversary gift for the couples in their lives. In many cases, newlyweds will have recently purchased a home and will not have finished decorating it. Try to stay away from alarm clocks as gifts, however. An alarm clock will not exactly give the impression of a well thought out gift.

Instead, give the couple you care about a clock that is made of glass or framed in silver for a more contemporary look. A wall clock adds a beautiful touch to any room and a table top clock could be a beautiful accent for a bedroom or family room. It is amazing out how common massage chairs have become in our society. We see them in many different places like shopping malls and car washes. Many people own them and have them in their homes or even in their offices. Massage chairs are much more than just a feel-good item. They provide many different therapeutic benefits. Here are some of the things I most like about a massage chair.

Massage therapy is one of the great natural therapies available to us. By simply performing motions that stretch the soft tissues and muscles, relief can be provided while enhancing the health and well-being of different parts of your body.

NASA found out that astronauts could take more pressure during takeoff when seated in particular ways. The position found most suitable for astronauts was named zero gravity. This does not mean that they are floating around, but rather they are seated in a particular way to minimize the effects of stress on their body during takeoff.

There are many forces which must be absorbed by an astronaut’s body during takeoff. NASA found that it could minimize these effects by seating the astronaut flat on their back with their knees raised. This enabled them to absorb the strong forces of gravity during takeoff.

Legal concept generally holds that gifts can’t be revoked once given, but being a conditional gift means that there’s a duty to return such items on request. The problem can be much more difficult when an engagement is bust off by the man, practically always the party to offer engagement rings.

Some courts will reason that fault is unimportant to the proven fact that the condition of engagement underlying the giving no longer exists, while other jurisdictions wish to differentiate between various details, for example the very timing of the giving; for example, rings offered at Christmastime have a higher possibility of being viewed simply as common gifts, without reference to the stated purpose. One of my very favorite pictures in my photo album is a picture of my wife’s hand in mine on top of a beautifully rich textured Bible. With our fingers entwined, like lovers embracing, our shiny new wedding rings are polished to a high shine and her sparkling diamonds is simply radiating the sunlight in multicolored glory. It is a breathtaking shot that adorns the front outer sleeve of the album. This photo is particularly special as I recently lost my precious ring in an unfortunate accident. So special was this ring to me that even a photo of it makes me nostalgically sad, as if recalling the smile of a lost family member.  Read more...

You have spared no expense in the planning of your wedding. The candle wedding favors are all lit and everyone is still drying the tears from their eyes. You have thanked everyone for coming. You have paid the band and shook hands with all two hundred plus guests, pretending to remember all of them. Everyone has thanked you for the elegant wedding favors and commented on how beautiful the bride is. The ushers are bringing cars around and it is finally winding down. Now it is time for the night you have been waiting on for your entire life. Romantic candles, soft music, and a chilled bottle of wine await you, your new wife, and her mother.

Everything comes to a screeching halt. Did I just say that her mother would be spending the night with you and your bride on your wedding night? Well, you think to yourself, I guess we could make up the spare bedroom. Wrong again, because your mother in law will be in the bedroom with you. Now you know I must be either drunk as a skunk, or crazy as a loon. Well you are wrong on both counts. I am describing a wedding custom of several villages in Africa. In all complete seriousness, there are tribes who have a custom that the bride’s mother, your mother in law must spend the night with the newly married couple and it gets worse.
