Lingerie comes in many styles, colors and types of garments. Some don’t think about corsets and basques in this modern day as part of lingerie but these garments are considered lingerie and are just as sexy as any other type of lingerie underwear. A corset is a garment worn on the body from the chest to the waist giving the body a slimming effect. Corsets were introduced in the late seventeen hundreds and even though they have changed over the years the basic make-up has remained the same. A basque is a variation of the corset and is basically a longer version that goes over the waistline and covers the hips.

Many women wear a corset for the purpose of accentuating their curvy figure. This garment pulls the waist in so the chest and hip area are more visibly noticeable giving the body an appealing appearance. These pieces of women’s apparel are worn underneath clothing to allow for their figure to look better in certain fashionable outfits. Another use for corsets is wearing them as a piece of lingerie to feel spunky, sexy and to entice a person’s partner.
